Texas Sex and Gender News Roundup

A&M forward Danielle Adams celebrates her trip to the championship. As much as it pains me to say it: go Aggies.

Since I’m powerless to stop the Ignoramus Express, conducted by Wayne “Western Civilization Probably Doesn’t Include African-Americans” Christian his own self, I’ve decided to capitulate entirely to dealing with his assbaggery with good humor. As such, consider today’s inspirational Wayne Christian QOTD, from the Dallas Morning News, on American exceptionalism:

Speaking of Great Britain and other former Western European colonial powers, he said, “The caucasions screwed it up. The Hispanics screwed their country up. Africans are having trouble with their countries. But when we all came together in America, it’s worked. And that’s what we don’t need to lose.”

Nobody tell Wayne Christian that caucasian mainly means white-ish people, includes the Americans he thinks are beyond reproach, includes an awful lot of Hispanic folks, and actually, it encompasses pretty much everyone of European descent and is useful mainly when you’re being a racist, ignorant assbag who essentializes race and is incapable of taking social and cultural factors into consideration even in his not-so thinly veiled attempts at racism, and my god, this man is making decisions for us you guys. Okay so that was not very much humor at all.

Here’s some sex and gender and lady news. (Note: if you read this, you won’t be able to ever read any news about traditional family values, since I ate them all while I was writing this post.)

Bonus: follow the new UT Family Values Center on Twitter.

Wayne Christian has been acting like that for a long time, I fear. I went to college in Nacogdoches and he was complaining about Planned Parenthood handing out condoms on campus; he thought all us whorish ladies could get the services we need at pregnancy “help” centers.

Between Christian and Gohmert (who spoke at my college graduation, ugh), you better be a white Christian male if you live in East Texas. Otherwise, they don’t care and you’re probably just about to drop a terrorist baby anyway. There are some bright and decent people in East Texas (I loved several of my professors) and Nac can be a nice little college town, but it’s unfortunately situated in a sea of proud and willful ignorance.

i looove how he mixes up his tenses in his ‘people who fucked shit up’ sentence. like the caucasions [sic] historically messed up (is this a dig at socialist western europe?), the hispaniolans messed up their country (why, yes, christian, the history of the island of hispaniola IS complicated! cinco puntos!), but the africans are currently messing up their countr[ies]. AND YET ‘when we all came together in america, it’s worked.’ so…white people, hispanics and black people are working successfully in america right now? sounds like nagadoches is a lala land of american racial harmony. this guy is definitely a student of american exceptionalism.

I’m glad I’m living in the only state in the that can reliably make Texas look reasonable and civilized by comparison. If I were anywhere other than Jan Brewer’s Arizona, I might never want to come home to Texas!

The CPC funding thing is just so nakedly dishonest it drives me crazy. They literally value lies and threats over affordable health care. The anti-choice race baiting is almost Orwellian in it’s dishonesty too. If women of color are choosing abortion more often than white women, that’s more likely due to poverty than to some racist mind-control plot by Planned Parenthood. Of course, those same women will find it even more difficult to get out of poverty once they’re stuck with multiple children they can’t afford and/or didn’t want… but I’m starting to realize that’s not a bug, it’s a feature.:-/

    That is all.
