More on that new U Texas book about premarital relationships and sex.

Echidne of the Snakes rocks this. It is a take-down of that asinine UT-Austin study about how gender equality has tipped the relationship scales in favor of men recently. (Before, you’ll remember, women had the upper hand in sex. This was back when rape didn’t exist, women weren’t sold with a brideprice, etc.)

I kept thinking I recognized the sociologist behind the study’s name. It’s Mark Regnerus. He’s the guy who told the Washington Post back in 2009 that the sky was falling because women don’t get married in or straight out of high school any more. He’s a right-wing Christian who’s been advocating against hook-up culture (from the “it’s so damaging to the little ladies!” angle) for some time.

Perhaps instead of presenting his findings as science, he should present them as “hey, this shit reflects my moral worldview, and wow! I am just as surprised about that as you are, because personal bias never influences scientific findings or practice!”
